If your mind is ridden with negative thoughts, it is hard to think clearly of ways to decrease stress. Whether you are depressed, having panic attacks, or merely thinking you are having a hard time coping, you need fast and effective help.
Stress is your body's response to a difficult situation. In ancient times it was necessary to keep us out of trouble or danger. Today we find ourselves in situations where punching someone or running away are out of the question. Our approach must be tailored to the times, and our options must be quite different to makes sure stress caused by inaction won't cause problems for us.
There are three very effective ways to relieve stress. But, make sure that you don't just read them; acting accordingly is what you really need to do. In order to lower your stress level you will have to add them to your daily life. So pick one and start right now!
Try to relax
This suggestion might seem off the wall when you are really stressed out, but the best way to fight stress is to integrate relaxation routines into your daily life. Take time out at least three times a week to relax with meditation, yoga, a binaural beat soundtrack, guided visualization or a positive form of prayer (not a list of your faults!)
These techniques can bring fast relief. They will also allow you to create ways to respond differently to future situations. And, as an added benefit, they will help you sleep, which is a luxury many stressed people don't have.
Get started on healthy habits
If you react to stress by diving into cookies, coffee, beer, cigarettes and even coffee, it would be best for you if you can make some changes. Quitting those habits might be particularly hard when you are stressed, but you should at least try to decrease how much and how often you partake of them.
Substances such as those described above will affect the way you feel. They are a drain on the body's resources. Even if they seem to be helpful at the moment, they are actually not anything that will help you along.
You should instead try to drink plenty of water, eat a healthy diet, and engage in relaxing activities such as a warm bath instead than relying on things that are not good for you. Playing with your pet or child could be another way to relieve stress.
Realistic Scheduling
Do what needs to be done to the most of your abilities, but don't fill up your schedule unrealistically. If you are making to-do lists at work, keep the list short. Keep in mind that most of the things will take at least twice as long as you expect, plus you need breaks.
If you can plan your day in a realistic way, you will be able to accomplish what you set out for yourself. This will give you a sense of achievement and will mean that you can relax at the end of the day. This is probably one of the best ways to relieve stress.
